Terms of service
The service
nüchtern (“the app”, “the service”) is a free, self-contained web app for personal routine tracking — a fasting timer, hydration log, and daily-rhythm reminders. It runs entirely in your browser: there is no account and no login. By default there is no server holding your data either — the one exception is Fast Together, an optional feature for comparing your fast with a friend's, whose opt-in live-sync relay is covered separately in the privacy policy. By opening and using nüchtern, you agree to these terms.
nüchtern is operated by Janaka Premathilaka, a private individual based in Switzerland — see the legal notice for full operator details.
nüchtern Pro — purchase terms
nüchtern Pro is an optional, one-time digital upgrade priced at CHF 29, paid once through Stripe. There is no subscription and no recurring charge of any kind — your card is never kept on file by nüchtern and is never billed again.
Pro is delivered instantly as a digital license key, included in your Stripe checkout receipt email. You redeem it inside the app under Settings → nüchtern Pro. Once redeemed on a device, Pro stays unlocked on that device permanently — there is no expiry and no phone-home check.
A license is a plain key, not a device-locked account: you may redeem the same key on your own other devices. It is not intended for resale or transfer to another person.
Refunds
Because a Pro key is issued the instant your payment completes, purchases are treated as final once a key has been sent. If something went wrong with your purchase — a duplicate charge, a payment that didn't produce a working key, or similar — contact us below and we'll sort it out directly.
Nothing here overrides any statutory right you may have under the consumer-protection law of your country of residence.
Free tier
The free version of nüchtern is not a trial. It never expires and stays fully usable — the timer, water tracking, guides, all goal presets, and two themes — whether or not you ever purchase Pro.
Not medical advice
nüchtern is a wellness support tool, not a medical device. It provides no diagnosis, no treatment, and no medical advice, and does not offer telemedicine or clinical services of any kind. Always talk to a doctor before changing your health routine, especially before any fast longer than 24 hours, and see the in-app Guide and the Science of Fasting page for the full safety guidance shown throughout the app.
Acceptable use & intellectual property
All content, design, source code and copy in nüchtern are protected by copyright and made available solely for use of the app as intended.
No permission is granted to copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, republish, rehost, resell, or create derivative works from this site or app, in whole or in part, without prior written consent from the operator.
No warranty
nüchtern is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. Since all data lives only in your own browser, keeping your own backups (Pro's export feature, or your browser/device's own backup) is your responsibility — nüchtern cannot recover data that was never exported and is lost when a device, browser, or its local storage is wiped.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated occasionally, for example to reflect a new feature or a change in how Pro is delivered. The “last updated” date above always reflects the current version; continuing to use nüchtern after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
